Travel and Hotel Management
Program Description:
Students enrolled in this program will learn skills to be successful in the travel and hospitality industry, including marketing and customer relations. They also receive a strong foundation in travel geography. Students will apply their knowledge during industry internships at hotel front desks, guest services, reservations, banquets, as well as in management and personnel services. Students may also complete an internship at a variety of travel related venues such as travel agencies and community projects.

Upon acceptance into the program, student and parent/guardian must participate in the Orientation/Interview at Cascadia Tech Academy.
Organizations:
Lodging curriculum is endorsed by American Hotel & Lodging Association and supported by Clark County Lodging Association. Travel Curriculum is endorsed by American Society of Travel Agents. Students can participate in state and national competitions through WA state Hotel & Lodging Association and DECA.
Lab Time/Theory Time:
Approximately 70 percent of the time will be devoted to theory and 30 percent to lab application. Students complete a 70 hour industry internship.
Homework:
1 to 4 hours per week

Year 1
SABRE workbook (Airline reservations system) $45 and Exploring the World workbook $20. Students will need an USB drive 4G approximately $10 - $15. Students must provide their own transportation to and from internship sites. Family medical insurance or student accident insurance is required. Sabre Certification exam $0 and Travel Geography Certification exam $25. All costs are approximate and subject to change.
Uniform Ordering Information:
It will be necessary for students to purchase a uniform shirt to be worn on field trips, internships, and professional dress day each week. Please go to the website: Designs of All Kinds to order prior to the first day of school and choose Travel & Hotel Polo Shirt, either men's or women's polo, approximately $28.
Year 2:
Professional attire required for internships. Two Lodging Management workbooks, part 1 and part 2, $56.50 each purchased at Cascadia Tech (Prices subject to change). Student must provide their own transportation to and from internship sites. Family medical insurance or student accident insurance is required. DECA membership fee (optional) $20. CTSO membership fee (optional) $25.
Note: Student accident insurance is available through your sending high school.

- Reading proficiency at 10th grade level
- Excellent high school attendance record
- Must provide own health insurance to participate in internships
