PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

Electro-Digital Technologies is a program designed to be completed in two years. The first year called Core consists of basic electronics, fundamental computer skills, Microsoft Office applications and professionalism.  The second year called Track includes computer hardware, software basics, and networking fundamentals. Students will also acquire help desk, professionalism, technical service and support skills in a work based learning environment providing technical support for the Skills center. In addition, Track students may specialize in one of the two Tracks below.

The Computer Repair/Networking Track is designed for students to have the knowledge and skills necessary to take the A+ and Network + certification exams.

The Clark College Track is designed to prepare students continuing their education with networking in the D-Net program.

The expected program outcomes for EDT include but are not limited to:

  • Preparing students to make the transition to employment in entry level positions or continuing education in the technology field.
  • Introducing all students to basic elements of electronics.
  • Training all students in the basics of computer operation, service and support.
  • Introducing students to computer networking.
  • Safety issues as they relate to EDT.

PREREQUISITES:

  • One year of Algebra with a grade of “C” or better
  • Participation in Orientation/Interview at the Skills Center
  • Problem solving skills
  • Interest in the field of electronics, computers, networking, programming, and related technology.
  • Application process for second year students requires successful completion of the first year program and teacher recommendation.

STUDENT COST:

Family medical insurance or student accident insurance is required. Student accident insurance is available through the Skills Center or sending school.
