
Attendance Policy
When
Class participation brings positive benefits – homework is reduced,
classroom instruction is not missed and the advantages of working with peers
are realized. Positive instructor
recommendations for future jobs, higher education and scholarships will also
result in benefits for years to come.
Hands-on instruction can only be offered to students in attendance.

CALL-IN: If
a student is absent, it is the student's
(or parent/guardian’s) responsibility
to call the attendance line (604-1077)
and inform the
NO CALL: If a student is absent without calling the attendance line this is considered an “unexcused absence”.
MAKE-UP Students have the opportunity to make up work
and lab time, or develop an alternative
CREDIT LOSS: Once
a student has accrued nine (9) absences they lose .5 credit,
at eleven (11) absences they will lose 1.0 credit, and at thirteen (13) they
will lose 1.5 credit. If there were extenuating circumstances surrounding the
absences, students may file for a Credit
Appeal Hearing with a
NOTIFICATION To prearrange an absence of more than 2 consecutive days, students must fill out a
OF ABSENCE: Notification of Absence form. These forms are located in the main office.
EARLY
RELEASE: Students who have
appointments or need to leave school early must sign out in the main office and
have permission from a parent/guardian before leaving campus. (i.e., note, phone call, etc.)
SCHOOL School-required Releases are
arranged by the sending school.
REQUIRED will be notified if a student or
school is affected. Examples: snow day, mandatory RELEASE: class meeting, early release, late start.
School-required Releases are not counted against a student for being absent.
