Academics Program

English:
The English Academics Program at the Skills Center provides juniors and seniors an opportunity to complete English credits in an online environment with a highly qualified Academic instructor available as mentor and to provide support.

The Skills Center's English Academics Program is designed to serve students who have a scheduling conflict, or need to recover an English credit, which would otherwise necessitate returning to their sending school in order to fulfill a graduation requirement.  Students who successfully complete their English Academic class at the Skills Center receive .5 credit per semester.

Key Concepts:
Successful completers will:
1.  demonstrate self-direction and motivation.
2.  value online learning.
3.  multi-task in a multimedia environment.


Social Studies:
The Skills Center’s Social Studies Academics Program provides juniors and seniors with an opportunity to complete History/Social Studies (World History, US History and Civics) credits in an online environment, with a highly qualified Academic instructor available as a mentor. This program also provides additional support in organizational and test taking skills.
 
Additionally, the Skills Center currently provides a Social Studies course in Pacific Northwest History. This particular course is not a part of our on-line program. It is offered through a teacher-to-student participation, covering topics such as regional history, culture, people, industry, etc.
 
The Skills Center's Academics Programs are designed to serve students who have a scheduling conflict, or for those who need to recover History/Social Studies credit(s).  These courses benefit those who would otherwise need to return to their sending school in order to fulfill a graduation requirement.
 
Students who successfully complete a History/Social Studies Academic class at the Skills Center will receive .5 credit per semester.
